Milwaukee Flag Design
This is the composition of the Milwaukee Flag that I envisioned for the contest on The goal was to depict symbolism onto the design of the flag. I worked with three colors: blue, yellow, and white. The blue represents the body of Lake Michigan while the white border represents the outside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. For the symbol, I chose yellow for the sun rising from Lake Michigan. The symbol is also designed for it to be seen as a sun but also as a compass but also be seen as the sculpture "The Calling" by Di Suvero. The bird-like V shape can be represented as the Milwaukee Art Museum that lies by the edge of Lake Michigan. My goal of designing this flag was to capture the essence of Lakefront. Living in Milwaukee for my whole life, I feel that the Lakefront is the most prominent symbol of Milwaukee and the most memorable amongst tourists and locals alike.
